The honest answer to “what does a company retreat cost?” is that it moves on three levers: the land package (everything on the ground once you land), the design & facilitation fee, and flights. For a UAE team in 2026, here is what each one looks like — and what pushes the number up or down.
1. The land package
For a well-run retreat of 5–7 days, budget roughly AED 6,600–10,300 per person (about $1,800–2,800), excluding flights. That covers vetted accommodation, in-country transport, meals, activities, a full-time trip lead, and the safety layer — licensed ground operation, in-country contacts and contingency planning. It is not a marketplace booking; it is an operated trip.
2. Design & facilitation fee
This is the part that makes the retreat deliver rather than just happen: the objective design, the matched facilitator, the agenda that weaves work into the days. It is a flat fee, typically AED 18,000–55,000($5,000–15,000), scaled to the ambition of the objective — a leadership strategy offsite carries more design than a culture week.
3. Flights — the swing factor
Flights from DXB or AUH are usually what actually decides the total, which is why we shortlist destinations by flight time. From Dubai you are 3–4 hours from East Africa and the Caucasus, under 5 to the Indian Ocean islands, and a single hop from Southern Africa and Southeast Asia — so a remarkable destination need not mean a punishing airfare.
A worked example — 20 people, 6 days
A 20-person, 6-day retreat with full facilitation lands around AED 205,000 (~$56,000) for land plus design, before flights. Scale the headcount and the per-person land cost moves close to linearly; the facilitation fee does not, so cost-per-head falls as the team grows.
What moves the number
- Season and destination. Peak-season Southern Africa costs more than shoulder- season East Africa. We shortlist by season so your dates and the place match.
- Accommodation tier. A private villa estate versus a boutique lodge is the biggest single land-cost swing.
- Days. Five to seven days is the sweet spot — long enough to ship work and build trust, short enough to protect the budget.
The community-impact line
The lasting community project we build into every retreat is usually funded from a separate CSR/ESG line rather than the travel budget — and you get a written, measured impact report you can use in reporting.
You bring the objective. We bring the logistics and the right host.
